Principal Guest Okko Kamu

Okko Kamu, who has had a long and distinguished career as a conductor, is Jyväskylä Sinfonia's new Principal Guest. His term began at the beginning of year 2024 and will continue for 1,5 years.

The theme of Kamu's Principal Guest season in Jyväskylä is Sibelius's music, which he has focused on during his career, including his time as principal conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra.  At the opening concert of spring season 2024, Kamu launched the Sibelius Cycle, during which Jyväskylä Sinfonia will perform all of Jean Sibelius' symphonies under rotating conductors over the coming years.

"It is a great honour for Jyväskylä Sinfonia to have a true maestro of music with his vast experience as its Principal Guest to lead the orchestra together with Chief Conductor Lorenzo Passerini in a new era in Encore Hall," says general manager Emma Anttila.

"Now that Jyväskylä Sinfonia has a new hall that will enable the orchestra to take its artistic development to a new level, I am delighted to be able to contribute to this exciting phase," says Okko Kamu.
