Stops of the Linkki transport service in the city centre will be moved on August 10, 2022 from the Vapaudenkatu street to the Asemakatu street

The long-anticipated parking house construction project close to the Jyväskylä local transport hub is underway. Due to construction work, the bus stops of the local Linkki transport service in the city centre on the Vapaudenkatu street will be out of use as of August 10, 2022.

City of Jyväskylä coronavirus recommendations extended until 17 January 2021

On 17 December The Regional State Administrative Agency for Western and Inland Finland issued an order that the number of participants in public events should be limited to 10 people as of 22 December. The order is valid until 17 January 2021. The order has an impact on the City of Jyväskylä's operations.

The performances of the Jyväskylä City Theatre and Jyväskylä Sinfonia are cancelled until 17 January 2021.

The City of Jyväskylä continues to tackle coronavirus testing backlog and recommends that people wear face masks on public transport and at mass gatherings

The government and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) have recently issued new recommendations on face mask use. Under the new rules, face masks are to be worn on public transport and while attending a coronavirus testing facility. THL has ruled that face masks are not suitable for children, and the guidance on face coverings applies to people aged 15 and over. The City of Jyväskylä additionally recommends that people wear face masks while attending large gatherings involving people who have travelled there from a number of different areas and if social distancing cannot be observed.

Jyväskylä will send information on the coronavirus to those who have recently moved to the city

Jyväskylä has been providing information on the coronavirus, on how to protect oneself from the virus, on what to do if one is quarantined or suspects he or she has caught the virus in various languages. The City will now make a special effort to approach those who have moved to the city recently and tell them about the virus.

Those who have recently moved to Jyväskylä will receive a text message and a letter from the City, both written in their own languages.

European Elections 2019

In Finland the elections to the European Parliament (European Elections) will be held on Sunday 26 May 2019. In the European Elections you can vote either on election day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. or in advance during the advance voting period.

National Bike Week 4–12 May 2019

National Cycling Week will be bringing an exciting programme of free public events for cyclists of all ages at the beginning of May. More than 50 events will be taking place across the week.

Services for immigrants

Integration of immigrants is taken care of by state, municipalities, educational institutions, churches and associations. According to the Finnish law municipalities coordinate migrant intregration work at the local level. An integration programme (kotouttamisohjelma) has been drawn up  in Jyväskylä.
