It would be impossible to write the history of chamber music without Franz Schubert, one of the earliest prototypes of the Romantic genius: young, delicate, solitary, and prone to illness, yet endlessly brimming with one captivating, heart-melting melody after another. Though Schubert was no titanic force smashing the heavens like Beethoven, his chamber works nonetheless reach such spiritual heights that one can only marvel at the vastness of human creativity.
Schubert’s ever-delightful, timeless Piano Quintet can brighten even the dullest week in a single dose. Jyväskylä Sinfonia joins forces once again with musicians from the Finnish Music Campus, sharing the spotlight not only with Schubert but also with Rebecca Clarke and Tauno Marttinen – two uncompromising trailblazers – and featuring the premiere of a work by Tuomas Turriago, further invigorating both our senses and minds.
